The Decanter Centrifuge for Silica Sand Washing Slurry Dewatering is designed for continuous solid-liquid separation, fine sand recovery, slurry thickening, and process-water clarification in silica sand washing and mineral processing lines.
It is suitable for silica sand washing plants, quartz sand processing, glass sand preparation, foundry sand washing, frac sand processing, and sand-washing wastewater treatment. The centrifuge separates fine silica particles, clay, silt, and suspended solids from wash water. Thickened solids can be sent to filter press, dryer, stockpile, or disposal. Clarified water can be returned to the washing circuit or further treatment system.
| Process Requirement | Decanter Centrifuge Solution |
|---|---|
| High wash-water volume | Continuous automatic separation |
| Fine sand and silt recovery | High centrifugal separation force |
| Abrasive silica particles | Wear-resistant scroll and discharge protection |
| Variable slurry concentration | Adjustable bowl speed and differential speed |
| Water recycle | Clarified liquid for reuse or further treatment |
| Lower sludge volume | Thickened solids before filter press or disposal |
| Cleaner operation | Enclosed continuous separation system |
Peony provides continuous solid-liquid separation for silica sand washing, fine solids recovery, and process-water recycle.
Silica Sand Washing / Classification → Slurry Tank → Optional Flocculant Dosing → Decanter Centrifuge → Thickened Fine Sand / Silt → Filter Press / Dryer / Disposal
Clarified Liquid → Process Water Tank → Recycle to Washing, Classification, or Further Treatment
Peony can provide:
Silica sand washing slurry enters the rotating bowl through a controlled feed pipe.
An agitated slurry tank is normally recommended upstream to prevent settling and maintain stable feed concentration.
Inside the high-speed rotating bowl, centrifugal force separates silica particles, silt, clay, and other solids from the liquid phase.
The heavier mineral particles settle against the bowl wall, while clarified liquid remains closer to the center.
The internal screw conveyor rotates at a controlled differential speed relative to the bowl.
This movement transports settled solids toward the conical end for continuous discharge.
The separated liquid leaves through the liquid outlet.
It can be returned to the sand washing line, classification section, process-water tank, or further wastewater treatment.
The concentrated silica fines, silt, clay, and sludge are discharged continuously from the solids outlet.
Recovered solids can be sent to a filter press, dryer, storage area, disposal section, or further classification stage.

Fine silica particles, clay, and silt affect separation efficiency, solids recovery, and clarified-water quality.
Silica sand is abrasive. Wear protection should be selected according to sand hardness, particle size, solids concentration, and daily operation time.
High solids concentration may reduce throughput and increase wear. Stable feeding helps maintain separation performance.
For very fine clay or silt, flocculant dosing may improve liquid clarity and solids capture. Testing is recommended before final selection.
If clarified water will be reused directly in sand washing, the required suspended-solids level should be confirmed.
The decanter can be used before a filter press, dryer, storage pond, settling tank, or wastewater treatment system.
The decanter continuously recovers fine silica particles, silt, and sludge from washing water without batch interruption.
Silica sand is highly abrasive. Wear protection can be added to the scroll, feed zone, bowl cone, and solids discharge area to support longer service life.
The clarified liquid can be reused in washing, rinsing, or classification, helping reduce fresh-water consumption and wastewater discharge.
By thickening slurry before filter pressing, the decanter can reduce liquid volume and improve downstream sludge handling efficiency.
Bowl speed, differential speed, pond depth, and feed rate can be adjusted according to sand content, clay content, particle size, and required water clarity.
Please provide the following information for a suitable silica sand washing slurry dewatering solution:
Yes. It can continuously separate fine sand, silt, clay, and suspended solids from silica sand washing water.
Yes, it is strongly recommended. Silica sand is abrasive, especially at high solids concentration.
Yes. Clarified water can often be returned to sand washing, rinsing, or classification. Further treatment may be needed for stricter water quality.
The decanter is mainly used for continuous thickening and primary dewatering. A filter press may still be needed if lower final moisture is required.
Not always. It depends on fine clay content, particle size, slurry condition, and required clarified-water quality.
Peony welcomes distributor and agent cooperation with silica sand washing plants, quartz sand processors, glass sand producers, foundry sand suppliers, frac sand companies, mineral processing contractors, wastewater treatment companies, and industrial separation partners.
We support partners with slurry testing, decanter centrifuge selection, wear-resistant configuration, flocculant dosing design, water-recycle integration, installation guidance, commissioning support, spare parts, and after-sales service.
